Steve Bullock

Mayor of Lewisham

Sir Steve Bullock was elected as the Lewisham’s first directly elected Mayor in May 2002 and he is now in his fourth term of office.  Immediately prior to becoming Mayor he was serving as Chair of University Hospital Lewisham NHS Trust.

Steve was first elected as a councillor in 1982 and served as Leader of Lewisham Council from 1988 to 1993.  He is currently a Deputy Chair of the Local Government Association, where he chairs the Commercial Advisory Board and is also Deputy Leader of the Labour Group. He leads on Housing for London Councils and is Vice-Chair of the Homes for London Board. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Museum of London.

Steve was born in Redcar, North Yorkshire, and now lives in Forest Hill with his wife, Kris. In his spare time he enjoys football and folk music. He was knighted in 2007.
