Sarah Ludford has been a member of the House of Lords since 1997 and was a Member of the European Parliament for London 1999-2014. A qualified barrister, Sarah has worked in Whitehall, in the European Commission, and in the City for Lloyd’s of London and American Express. In the European Parliament, she was the UK Liberal Democrat European spokeswoman on justice & human rights and was also involved in EU foreign affairs including as vice-chair of the EP delegation to the United States. Sarah served as a local councillor for 8 years during the 1990s in Islington, where she has lived for over 3 decades.
