Deborah is Director of External Affairs at Centre for London, leading the communications, design and events teams to promote the Centre’s work to those that can help achieve our vision. Her recent experience includes strategic fundraising and communications consultancy, serving as Director of Fundraising & Communications at responsible investment campaigning organisation, ShareAction, and leading fundraising at sustainability non-profit, Forum for the Future.

Prior to this, she raised funds and awareness for social welfare and homelessness charities and in another life, worked in brand agencies. Deborah holds a degree in Communication Studies. Having lived in six different countries before the age of 14, Deborah has now lived in London for almost 20 years (longer than anywhere else), which she secretly hopes makes her a legitimate Londoner.

What do you love about London?

Regent’s canal, from Kings Cross to Victoria Park. It’s these pockets of London, that are open to everyone – and where you can meander through so many different areas, close to nature and away from roads – that remind me how peaceful city living can be.

What would you change about London if you could?

I’d make the London Living Wage mandatory, make more areas inaccessible to private vehicles, plant more trees, and create more wild swimming spots.
