Further education should support vulnerable Londoners

Responding to a new report on COVID-19 and social mobility from the LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance, Nicolas Bosetti, Research Manager at Centre for London said:

“Leading social mobility experts at the LSE have shown how the COVID-19 recession risks making the UK a less fair place – the least well off in society are most exposed to job and wage losses.

“Further education should support them, but instead people without qualifications are least likely to benefit from training opportunities. This echoes findings from our forthcoming report City Skills – calling for new investment into London’s further education, to reverse the fall in adult learning and support vulnerable Londoners through the recession.”
