More and more Londoners are struggling to find affordable places to live, but at the same time new affordable housing provision in London has been declining. How can London make the most of its available resources to build more affordable housing?
This report will look at the difference in cost and subsidy required for building affordable housing in central and suburban locations and propose different ways to optimise delivery across the city while preserving the benefits of mixed communities.
The report will also examine the efficacy of different funding streams available for delivering affordable housing, barriers to increased collaboration between boroughs and the potential for a centralised pooling system.
The report will be released on 9 March 2017, and will be launched with an event featuring James Murray, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development. The event is free to attend and open to all.
